This made me happy when I read it... "Canela is ranked 1st in the region and 182nd in the world for Most Compassionate Citizens."
That's from my nation (Canela) on NationStates. Since there is like 400,000 people, 182nd is pretty damn high. ^_^
Also, I got the new DVD of .hack//SIGN yesterday. That also made me happy. I'm amazed how ever time I get to the last episode of the disk I start counting the days until the next DVD is released.

6:28 pm - Uncovering the past
|
While looking through a bunch of notebooks today I found some old journals from 1997-98. They were only a few entries long (I'm terrible at keeping physical journals) but they were interesting to read none the less. It really showed how my thought patterns have changed over the years and how I was more "innocent" of sorts (perhaps naive) back then. Of course, that was back in High School and 5-7 years do make a huge difference. One odd thing was I always seemed to start a journal whenever a new relationship was starting. It's not that the new relationships caused me to write because some of them entries started before the relationship formed but soon an entry would mention a relationship. It's was kind of odd. The entries were fun to read and really reminded me of what High School was like.

3:35 pm - This would work
|
But it's just evil. I was looking at Men's Health website (don't ask why) and ran across the one of the daily tips which was 20 ways to keep you motivated in going to the gym. Here is number twenty. It's just plain masochistic (but it'd probably work....):
20. Blackmail yourself Take a picture of yourself shirtless, holding a sign that shows your e-mail address. Then e-mail it to a trusted but sadistic friend, with the following instructions: "If I don't send you a new picture that shows serious improvement in 12 weeks, post this photo at hotornot.com and send the link to the addresses listed below...." (Include as many e-mail addresses -- especially of female acquaintances -- as possible.) "It's nasty, but extremely effective," says Alwyn Cosgrove.

Yeah... it really sucks when you can't figure out why you're almost falling asleep at work and then you realize that your allergies meds aren't non-drowsy. So, 5 hours from now (since it's a 6 hour pill) I'll finally be feeling fine. Grrr.... I'm going to have to stop by Target to get something better tonight. I hate allergy meds. Why can't Allegra just become over-the-counter. That stuff's the best.

11:46 pm - So I'm behind the times...
|
I finally caught Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Boy Meets Boy today. Interesting shows. Personally I like my BBC DIY shows (Changing Rooms, House Invaders, Ground Force, What Not to Wear, and Faking it) better than Queer Eye since because they are more specific they give you more hints. Plus, I wonder if the guys the Fab 5 change will just revert back after awhile. None-the-less, it's a fun show and they do some amazing changes.
Boy Meets Boy is emotional blackmail! All through out the show I kept thinking how I should not get into the show. But I did. At the end, I was tearing a little. Maybe my opinion would be different if I would have watched the whole series (which now I think I'm going to have to) but the guy should have chosen Brian. He was so cool! Not that Wes is bad but I liked Brian more. And Franklin was so obviously the straight guy. Grr... now I'll have to catch reruns of the whole series.

1:38 pm - Freak yTuesday

I had the weirdest experience this morning. I woke up after like 5-6 hours of sleep and felt great. So great, in fact, that I actually thought "Too bad I don't have time to talk a walk before work today. Maybe tomorrow. Ah well, I'll just do some light yoga after I meditate." It's freaky... I'm not at all a morning person. Usually I sleep at least an hour into my alarm and wake up wanting to kill people. But, for whatever reason, not today. I even got by drinking genmaicha (toasted rice green tea) instead of my higher in caffeine oolong.
Even now, I'm having the sniffles and a sore throat because of allergies and I still feel really good.
On a side note, why has no one told me before that pho is the ultimate food when you have a sore throat? I had that fore lunch. Oh salty, spicy, beefy, hoisin-y goodness.
On another side note, I found this rant about cars to be so true. I hate the ones he mentiones and see them on the road way too much.

2:58 am - They eat faggots in the UK 0_o
|
Seriously. Over 100 million faggots are eaten in the UK each year. There is even a Faggot Family. And here are some ways of preparing faggots, the most interesting are the faggot kabobs and faggots nest, imho. Here is the main websites about faggots. It asks how many can you handle.. 2? 4? 6?

Okay... so I was fulfilling my Dynasty Warriors 4 addiction and I got to a very bad level. I was playing "Race for the Nan Territory" in the Wu campaign. It took me over 74 minutes and I must have killed over 2000 enemies soldiers just attacking (I usually get like 200-300 hundred by going out of my way to kill enemies). According to one faq the enemies out number your forces about 100 to 1 (and I beleive it). When I'd seal a gate (which lets more enemy soldiers into the field) the gates would go back under Nanman control. Plus, some how they stole my gates. The objective in the level is to kill the leader Meng Hou. What the game doesn't say is that you have to kill him about 7 times, the last time being in his fortress where enemy soldiers are swarming into and he and two other soldiers are riding elephants (not the easiest thing to get them off of and that do some big damage). The results... I raised no levels since my character was maxed out, my weapon raised a level (which is was almost to already), and I got one item that wasn't weaker than everything else I had. As for the level raising, I probably got enough experience to raise a few levels in moth my character and weapon if I hadn't ben maxed/almost maxed. Plus, I found out I have to play the Wu campaign again to Duel Meng Hou since they way to unlock him is to beat him in that level in a duel in two of the three campaign (plus, I think you have to beat him in a duel all seven times he appears, so 14 duels... I hate duels...).
The only satisfaction I got was reading a faq that said that that level is arguably the hardest level. I beat it in my first try. w00t! The one thing that saved my butt is that my character was the leader of the campaign so I didn't have to protect someone else from being defeated.
My thumbs hurt.
Yay! Rant over.

2:54 am - Battle royal Chinese style
|
Dynasty Warriors 4 is such an awesome game. I just got it this week and I've already spent way too many hours playing. Once I got the hang of it, it just kiss ass. Sun Jian rocks!
I'm going to have to pick up Romance of the Three Kingdoms sometime soon so I can get a better perspective on the game. Though, I should really read Journey to the West soon since I already have that. Erm... if you haven't heard of those books, they're two of the four most famous epic novels from China.
Oh, and I watched A Chinese Ghost Story yesterday. Good movie. It's a Hong Kong flick that mixes humor, martial arts, and drama. It's famous for basically starting an interest of Hong Kong flicks in the US. It's about a guy who wanders into a haunted temple. Near there is a female ghost that has sex with a man and then calls another spirit to eat their soul. The ghost and man end up falling in love with one another. Obviously, this is not the best of situations.

Yes! I'm not the only one who questioned a certain Bailey's ad! There is one ad where three men and a woman are playing pool. The women shoots and then realizes someone drank her Baileys. She tries to figure out who. Anyway, at the end of the ad the guy she kissed has his arms around her. Most people I've talked to haven't noticed but on the other end of the screen one guy has his arms around the last guy, basically mirroring the guy/girl couple. I've always said I liked this ad since I think it subtly hinted that two of the guys are together without making a big deal of it (in other words, saying it's normal).
Unfortunetely, there is an edited version of the ad where they cut out the last part. :(
Anyway, here is a write up and a video of the ad.

11:01 pm - Apparently the gays like to travel..
|
I was watching V Graham Norton on BBCamerica and an Orbitz commercial came out. It started out like the usual Miami one where Hunt and Star are at a hotel, Hunt (the guy) says "blah blah blah and the view is magnificient!" Star peers at a shirtless guy through binoculars and says "It certainly is..." However, the commercial I saw was slightly different. Star says "blah blah blah and the view is magnificient!" and Hunt peered at a shirtless guy through the binoculars and said "It certainly is..." Then the head guy said "Eye candy! The party boys will be pleased! Another mission accomplished." O_o
Apparently Orbitz started a gay section of their website over a year ago and, much as many companies in the travel industry assumed, gay people spend more on travel. So they decided to air the gay-themed commercial during Graham Norton and Ab Fab (on BBCamerica) plus Queer Eye and Boy Meets Boy (on Braveo). However, no Will and Grace since the commercial spots are too expensive.
It's nice to see more progressive ads on TV! :D
Here is the gay section of Orbitz. And here is info about the commercial along with info about the commercial. If you have some free time, you might want to check out the Commercial Closet website for a look at interesting ads. Europe has more interesting ones than the US. :(

1:13 am - Movie night
|
I decided to rent a couple dvds tonight. Seems like a trend when I'm having a blah day at work that I end up renting some horror movies and drinking beer while watching. Meh.. escapism works for me. The two I rented were Dracula 2000 and Retro Puppet Master. Dracula 2000 was decent. Bad as an action movie but they were quite creative with the Dracula mythos. Retro Puppet Master was odd. It was definitely a B-movie (at one point, one of the puppets is suppsoe to come alive and you can clearly see the hand moving it). However, I enjoyed it. I like B-movies and at times I like watching modern movies that use the old styles of special effects (read: no computer graphics). The Evil Dead series are great for this sort of thing. The puppets are really animated with various puppetry techniques (animatronics, strings, etc.). I'm suprised the main actor hasn't been in more movies. Imdb.com only lists him in two. He's a decent actor and great looking (though, his bleached hair seemed odd in the movie).
On a different note, I got a CD I ordered off amazon.com's marketplace section in the mail today. Far From the Maddening Crowds by Chicane. That's their first CD (at least, under the name Chicane) and it's discontinued so I was happy to get a copy. I've been really digging Chicane's music recently. As somewhere else said, the best way to describe the music is a mix of trance and ambient. I think I prefer their second CD more (perhaps that's why that cd is more availible) but I like this cd none-the-less.

1:15 pm - Home Ec with Eros
|
So, I mailed the payment for my Qwest bill. I don't know about you all but they never taught us how to write a check for less than a dollar during Home Ec in Jr. High (however, they did teach us how to write checks... hmm, I think it was Home Ec). I had to do a search on it. Apparently you either cross out "dollar" at the end of the line and write something like "Only 45 Cents" or leave the "dollar" and write something like "Only 45/100." The "Only" is the key point so people can't add "three-thousand and" before the "45/100" (at least, I assume that's the reason why). Heheh... I kind of like that you write "only." Not only is it the correct way to do things but I'm also pointing out to the billing department that they sent me a bill for "Only 45/100 Dollars."

11:33 pm - Stupid Spam
|
I really hate spam. I mean the email stuff, not the food. I like the food (mmm... spam musubi). But email spam has always annoyed me. And now it's getting worse. I'm getting lots of emails trying to get through junk filters. First is was things like substituting p0rn or s-e-x for the actual words. Now it is using really weird titles like "about that file you sent me." I'm guessing the spam programs just look up random email titles or something 'cause I got one today that isn't exactly conductive to selling. Three emails in a row were titled "Go to Hell!" Hearing that just doesn't make me want pills to make my breasts and penis bigger...
On a totally different note, check out this movie. It made me laugh really hard. Plus, it had a few of my favorite songs in it. :D
